Investors have been urged to invest in green infrastructure to offer nature-based solutions to the climate change crisis.
While making her remarks as a panelist during Kakamega International Investment Conference 2024 (KAIICO 2024) at MMUST, Dr. Stella Wanjala said women bear the brunt of climate change crisis, food and water insecurity among other social issues.
She noted that to mitigate these challenges, women need to be empowered to enable them to be at the forefront of adaptation, mitigation, and resilience.
She also underscored the importance of women playing a leading role in climate change resilience efforts.
Dr. Stella noted that WWANC is a women-led organization that focuses on nature-based solutions to environmental challenges and urged stakeholders to invest in green infrastructure to tackle climate change crises worldwide.
Other members of the panel were; Ms. Peninah Mukabane (CECM, Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change), Japheth Mbuvi (USAID Western Kenya Water Project), Eng Michael Ogol (MD, KACWASCO), Mr. Anthony Ambungo (CEO, WASPA), Ms. Susan Kanga (Urban Sanitation and Business Lead-USAID Western Kenya Sanitation Project) and Mr. Alfred Adongo (CEO, Sana International).
